Life in the Huddle™
Leadership Development Program
Using the universal language of football, this program builds healthy masculinity, emotional intelligence, and leadership character, helping boys step into brotherhood, purpose, and a version of manhood they can be proud of.
…less likely to seek mental health support than girls.
Harmful masculinity stereotypes discourage emotional expression, leading to aggression, isolation, and challenges that go unaddressed.
with mental health needs receive no treatment.
Life in the Huddle™ meets boys where they are. Inside a framework they already respect and use it to teach the emotional skills that change trajectories.
Built for the Way Boys Actually Learn
A 10-chapter curriculum grounded in the language of football, a framework that boys already trust, to deliver evidence-based emotional intelligence and leadership development.
- 10-chapter curriculum · 8-week intensive or full academic year
- Hold It / Get It / Close It methodology woven through every chapter
- Develops healthy masculinity and emotional intelligence
- Addresses identity, stereotypes, leadership, and communication
- Creates brotherhood and positive peer connections
- Fully standalone; facilitators can run confidently without prior experience
Brotherhood as the Mechanism
The group becomes the team. Each cohort of boys functions as a huddle. Accountable to each other, not just to an adult. This peer dynamic is the engine that makes the emotional learning stick beyond the session.
Life in the Huddle
The 3-Movement Framework™
Every session, every chapter, every reflection in the curriculum runs through these three movements, a leadership loop that becomes a life skill.
Hold It
Before reacting, a leader pauses. This movement teaches boys to interrupt automatic responses: anger, avoidance, and posturing, and create space to think. It’s the foundational skill that makes everything else possible.
- Recognizing emotional triggers before they escalate
- Breathing and grounding in high-pressure moments
- The difference between reacting and responding
Get It
In the pause, a leader gains clarity. This movement builds emotional intelligence: naming what’s really happening, understanding others’ point of view, and thinking through consequences before acting.
- Naming emotions accurately (beyond "fine" or "angry")
- Perspective-taking and empathy in peer conflict
- Understanding identity, stereotypes, and self-image
Close the Huddle
After pausing and gaining clarity, a leader acts with intention and moves forward. This movement builds the follow-through communication, accountability, and the leadership character that earns trust from peers and adults.
- Leading through brotherhood and collective accountability
- Communicating with clarity and respect
- Making a decision and owning it
The 3-Movement Framework runs through all 10 chapters of the curriculum: from Identity and Peer Relationships to Communication and Community Leadership.
